After a short introduction to Augmented Reality (AR), we show how this fascenating new technique can be applied in the field of art.

 

Gerhard Knolmayer began a collaboration with Sarah Montani, an internationally recognized expert in bridging art and technology, in summer 2022. He applied Augmented Reality Art objects ("Metaspheres") provided by Sarah while visiting documenta 15 in Kassel and recognized the potential of this technique from a user perspective.

Soon afterwards, Gerhard and Sarah decided to apply AR as immersive technique for addressing environmental issues. To create the corresponding metaspheres, they worked together with 3D-artists APTIQ and Jamie F.G. Artworks resulting from this collaboration were shown at Art Lab California and at the New York City ART EXPO.

Later on, an AR object referencing the 4.0-hype was co-created with Claudio Wabner.

​

In the meantime, it has become clear that the AR objects are suitable for providing new food for thought, for example in connection with physical works of art and even in everyday situations.
